We owe you- BIG TIME

Hey friends

Please dont give up on this blog! We owe you some pictures and we do have them in abundance. We just need to work out the time to post them for you.
We have two more weeks of teaching left before our christmas break, then its OUTREACH TIME!!!

Most of you would know by now that we take a team of 14students to the Gambia (West Africa) to work for 6-8weeks in the villages. We dont know all that will entail, but we're really excited. We'll be doing some real updates before we head out as it may be pretty hard to access the internet once we're gone.
Keep us in your prayers please!
Love always
Hesses

Uncle John and Aunty Danya

Hello Friends,

Here is the excitement: We are new Aunt and Uncle to baby Jude, born this Monday, weighing in at a whopping 9.10lbs (and 6ounces). We are excited to be in this season of life. We thought we would be nice to you our friends and family and share some pics!

We are excited to see them!! We go to Kingston next week for Local Outreach with our students, and after that perhaps we'll drop in for the weekend with family.
That's all for now, but there are more fun pics with our DTS coming up!

YWAM under water

Hey Everyone, we promised to show you what YWAM looked like when under water with the last rains we had. Maybe you thought we were exaggerating- so decide for yourselves! The rains have begun drying up now, so we're left with afternoon thunderstorms or rains.

This is one of our Jamaican students Denzil. Such a good natured kid- loves to be active, works hard, and almost always has a smile going on

We organized a base clean up day after the event. When the water stopped flowing, it had brought lots of rocks, debris, tree branches-you name it!- and we needed to clean our property

When the water ran off, we realized it had taken a large chunk of land with it, undermining the fence so much people from the street below could walk right through the gap! That looks like a little puddle there, but is actually quite deep, and was still flowing!

Pray for us! While the rain is good for keeping things green, the constant rain and humidity are causing mold to grow literally everywhere! On our walls, on our bed- let's just say we are ready for the sunshine again!

My niece Ariana, the most cutest kid there is.

Just a quick post. This picture is our desktop because it always makes us smile. Ariana is a precious little cutie and we know this pic will make you smile too!

DTS Class picture

This is our September DTS 2011 in front of the world map in our classroom. A blend of students from Canada, Jamaica, USA, South Korea, Mexico and Germany!

TROPICAL STORM

Hey friends,

Tropical Storm Nicole is making her presence known right now. Thunder, lightning, rain like crazy- flooded streets...Yesterday, picture this!
Our property was without electricity, and some parts without running water, while all day dreary winds and rain buffeted us. The ocean which is usually a sparkling blue and aqua blend was running brown with the run off from overflowing villages and rivers. I couldnt even see the road, as there was a lively bubbling river in its place. Our students were running around drenched, trying to get things done in the gloomy rain.

Finally, at about nine p.m our electricity came back, and our pumps were able to take running water up to the top part of the campus (where we Hesses live). It was kind of a crazy adventure.

Pray for us that we continue to have electricity this week while the storm passes- its hard to feed people without water power, or even have classes without light!

Pray for us as we continue to walk with our DTS students. They finished sharing their testimonies this week, and it has been an emotional journey to hear each persons walk without God, and how He's changing them still. Many of our students are young- mostly teens, and many of them have come straight from their challenging circumstances straight into DTS. That means they're still wobbling a bit, still recovering, still trying to figure out who God is and where He's taking them.
Our responsibility to hear from God and walk in obedience is great and we take it seriously!

Continue to pray for us as we walk alongside our new family in this season.

Blessings,
Hesses

LONG OVERDUE

Helloooooo  ooo oo ooo! Is anyone still out there??
Our blog has not been updated in so long, we're actually quite embarassed! For a while there, we were going to do up a website - but the thought came, if we cant even find time to do a blog, who's goin to maintain our site?? So maybe that's on hold a little bit.

Hello friends!
This is our catching up blog. For those of you who have been following our journey any at all, you would know we have been facing immigration issues on both sides ever since we started missions. John is sorted out for a short while, but his paperwork is of a temporary nature, while I, Danya, am sorted out for good as I have finally gotten through with US citizenship! YAY! So we're at peace regarding papers in this season, and we get to just totally enjoy being missionaries, working with this DTS with its wonderful 17 students, and just being together doing what God has us doing for this season.
We wanted to get some pics going on this site just so you can celebrate with us!

This is us waiting for the proceedings to unfold- we weren't sure what to expect!

I finally was able to swear in and get my certificate in front of over 70 people from 35 countries, all there to do the same thing!

This is me celebrating becoming a citizen!

I was so proud to have Mom-in-Law there with me. Sharon is awesome. repeat: awesome.

I celebrate with my AMURCAN husband at an AMURCAN coffeeshop with frenchfries, because we are AMURCANS. Its just who we are.

Later, we celebrate again with family. All in all, just must marvel at the faithfulness of God in making this thing happen so fast for us. He really finished well what He began and we are in Awe.

Now here are some random pics we thought we could share with you.

We used one of our many trips to Philly during this time to sightsee some cultural/historic sites.

This is John posing by the Liberty Bell. He was only tapping it to see if it was real and before we knew it his super strength had the thing cracked right down the middle. Ah well, maybe no one will notice it's broken...
Look who's sitting on that park bench! It's an AMURCAN!!!

We had a blast in PA, and we're having a blast being back in Jamaica. Keep us in your prayers as we work with the DTS and seek God to define our long-term purpose as we serve.

LOVE
HESSES
